Glazed Roller Shutter Doors
Is it possible to have a 'glazed' roller shutter door of any kind? With many roller shutter doors it is certainly possible to have either perforated or punched out hole sections when the curtain slat used is strong enough to enable it. Obviously taking a rectangular chunk out of a roller slat section and then repeating this along the length will affect the integrity so this is not possible on every slat type.
To have a roller door with actual 'glazing' or indeed acrylic plastic sections inserted as they actually are is perfectly possible and even with twin walled sections in the double skinned and insulated slat versions.
It is quite usual just to have a small section in a roller shutter door fitted with punched lengths of curtain at around head height to provide some useful vision to the outside for warehouse and factory occupants. The sections fitted into security roller shutters are more to help police and fire services to identify any issues when they may have a call out to a retail premises rather than wonder what is going on behind a solid and closed security shutter curtain.
For many retail premises of course it is desirable to have 24/7 vision into the shop window, particularly in paved and pedestrianised town and city centres. Properly specified a security shutter over a large window can be an enhancement and with a section or indeed the entire curtain enabling 50-75% vision the show window can be seen during the night and winter months but remain secure. The acrylic inserts tend to be specified in some or all of the curtain on many premises to avoid the potential for climbing but also to secure the exposed shop front to weather and in many semi outdoor shopping arcades the shutter may be the only form of closure so although vision may be desirable, open sections may be preferred as clear perspex infills to stop undated posting of litter or worse.
Samson offer a vast range of security shutters and then commercial or industrial roller shutter doors with the option for punched and glazed sections and they are also very popular in the roller garage door ranges too.
