The prefix and suffix word ‘security’ is a very overused term when it comes to doors and windows and if you are after serious security you would do well to research a lot more on the subject before choosing a door you can rely on. Samson Doors offer a wide range of steel doorsets which have been specified with serious hardware and upgrades to have security performance at the forefront of the doors features.

A standard and basic steel door leaf with a bigger lock generally cannot offer any real security. The nature of a ‘doorset’ is a complete door leaf, fixing frame and hardware all manufactured in one process and place to provide a final end product which has continuity of build quality and specification, and for security this is an important factor.. Thicker steel used on the door panel and fixing frame, stronger, multiple hinges, astragal seals around the door leaf and high quality locking features, including a locking cylinder which cannot be tampered with and operated without the right key. Multiple locking cylinders is also a common security feature. with varying cylinders and keys.

You will so often see so-called ‘security’ doors with multiple point locking, but so often these 9, 12, or more locking points all lead back to one single cylinder which isn’t properly security rated and can be broken too easily, providing access to operate all the multiple locking points at once, making these multiple locking points a pointless feature.

Whilst our ‘security’ doors are all high specification we also offer security rated steel doorsets where certification may be required for compliance. Our ‘security’ steel doorsets will have increasing levels of specification for you to make your own mind on the relevance for your building.

Examples of higher security specifications:

  • 2mm thick steel skin panels rather than 1.5mm
  • Solid timber core and anti drill plates
  • Continuous stainless steel hinges
  • Exidor 700 Series/Surelock McGill ironmongery
  • PAS 24 specification options
  • Heavy duty vision panels
  • Stainless steel handles and hinges.

For security rated steel doors just go to our ‘Security Rated Steel Doorsets’ where you will find many options for almost any specification requirement.

For the ultimate steel doorset ask about the Teckentrup 62 Secure range. Teckentrup steel doorset compliance is beyond nearly all other steel doors and the door has been tested to these standards below for almost any application.
